8-12 Jan 2018 Lyon (France)

Advanced school Entropies and soficity

The advanced school on entropies and soficity is part of the thematic semester "Graphs, groups and Dynamics" held in Lyon between September 2017 and February 2018. The school is meant as a preparatory school for the workshop "Entropies and soficity" held Jan 15-19 2018. The main theme of this conference is entropy theory, its many facets, and their connections to multiple branches of mathematics, with an emphasis on new and emerging directions. Our idea is to gather mathematicians working on various aspects of entropy (thus the "Entropies") in dynamical systems (classical, less classical, sofic, measured and topological entropies).

The school will take place in the Université Lyon 1, salle Fontanes.

There will be four three lecture series:

  • Lewis Bowen (UT Austin) : Sofic entropy theory parts 1-5
  • David Kerr (Texas A&M) : Topological entropy
  • Douglas Lind (University of Washington) : Entropy for algebraic actions
  • Brandon Seward (Courant institute of Mathematical Sciences) : Rokhlin entropy

New :  a tentative schedule is available (see Planning in the Main Menu). The lectures will start every day of the week at 10 am, and last until 5 pm, except wednesday and friday when they last until 12:45. Wednesday afternoon a guided tour of the city will be organized.
